Kite School

Everyone can access this wonderful sport, you do not need strength, it is easy, quick to learn and also cheap, but……

Kitesurfing is one of those sports whose approach is not recommended with DIY or the support of a friend who already practices it. It is important that the first steps in the world of kiting are followed by qualified instructors who will quickly teach you the basic rules of safety. This is because, if you do not learn these rules at the beginning you will come across situations that can become really dangerous and unpleasant for you and for other people around you.

All our instructors have not improvised “masters” but have followed all the courses necessary to qualify as instructors recognized by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) and / or the International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO). Thanks to this preparation they are able to bring anyone to autonomy in this sport. The only pre-requisite is not to be afraid of water!

The equipment: unlike many other schools we use new equipment! This is because it allows us not to have problems with equipment that breaks and it never happens that we have to interrupt the lesson due to a breakage of the equipment.

We provide you with everything you need: wetsuit, floating jacket, helmet with radio, board and kite. The use of the radio allows the instructor to communicate with the student in the water without having to scream. Hearing an instructor who does not shout puts the student at ease so that he can focus only on the exercises given by the instructor.

We also have a boat and a dinghy to follow the students and the lifts in the water.

Duration of the lesson: the actual duration of the lesson is one hour from the moment the student is placed in the water. If the student drift downwind a lot in the hour, the return to the launch point is also included.

For students who have completed the course and are independent, it is expected that they can access our lift service which provides for the launch in a point of the lake where the wind is optimal and the subsequent recovery at the end of the activity.

In addition, our school is one of the few that has a physical location and is able to welcome you before and after the lessons. We are located in Dervio, near the Port of Santa Cecilia, on the famous Lake Como there are the best wind conditions in all of northern Italy. Close to Milan, Lecco, Como, Lugano, Bergamo and Sondrio. We also have a “pick-up point” on the other side of the lake in Santa Maria di Rezzonico at the Beach 29 bar for those arriving from Switzerland or Como.

Here the wind (La Breva) blows strongly from April to September every afternoon from 12 to 19 and is the best wind to learn this sport because it is constant and without gusts. Not too strong and not too weak; in other words it’s perfect!
