The history
According to analysis of James Cook‘s diaries, already in 1778 the English explorer, as the first European to land in Hawaii , was able to observe some natives paddling upright on large boards to ride the waves.
Others believe that they were simply fishermen and that, in any case, the birth of this sport took place around the 50s in Waikiki, with the rediscovery of wave surfing led by Duke Kahanamoku, who would create, years later, the first generation of beachboys.
It is in those years that the first photos of surfers began to be published in US newspapers. It seems that one of the Ah Choy brothers (Bobby), one of the most famous beachboys of the time, had an idea to take pictures in the water and therefore closer to the action with a completely different and more realistic perspective. He borrowed an oar and paddling on a longboard arrived, without falling, near the break point, immortalizing the action for the first time from the water with a Kodak.

The right paddling position involves keeping the knees slightly bent thus going to train and stress the muscle groups of quadriceps, femoral and buttocks.
